Meet the Breeder:
Lisa Starr of 5Starr Vizslas
5Starr Vizslas is a small vizsla kennel based out of Central Florida and driven by my love for vizslas and subsequent passion for preserving this amazing breed. The health and welfare of my kennel at large, and of each of my vizslas individually, is the core value at which 5Starr Vizslas operates.
I raise all of my litters according to Puppy Culture Protocol, because it allows me to introduce environmental enrichment and desensitization during the developmentally critical weeks of early life. While in my care, puppyhood is spent growing, learning, and playing in my own home where they reap the benefits of constant human interaction and exposure that builds their familiarity with the nuances of a life (appliances, visitors, water, noises, ect.)
I favor this approach because it allows litters to build an understanding of, and trust in their surroundings as each puppy grows a personality unique to them. I take great pride in uniting the right people with a fearless and balanced puppy that fills their life with joy and love. All my puppies start crate training at 4 weeks to allow for an easier transition when the time to go home with their new family comes.
Community Involvement
5Starr Vizslas is registered with the AKC and I am proud to be an active member of two vizsla organizations that are AKC recognized and supported.
-
The official AKC parent club dedicated to the safeguarding and promotion of the vizsla breed by way of philanthropic and educational means.
-
A regional club in Florida united by our goal to preserve the integrity of the breed. We lead vizsla rescue/rehoming efforts, provide opportunities for members to participate in AKC sanctioned events/ training, and foster a collaborative and transformative vizsla community.
Vizslas of my kennel have also earned their VCC Versatile Companion Champion titles; A prestigious AKC title prefix awarded to dogs who preformed extraordinarily while competing.
Title
Vizslas within my kennel have also earned VCC Versatile Companion Champion titles; A prestigious AKC title prefix awarded to dogs who preformed extraordinarily while competing.
All of my bitches are OFA Orthopedic Foundation of Animals tested. OFA testing evaluates the physical inherited traits in dogs to reduce genetic disorders and improve breeding practices. The panel includes hips, elbows, eyes, and thyroid clearances.
How My Puppies are Placed
To feel confident in my puppy placement decisions, 5Starr Vizslas has an inquiry process that I ask all potential new owners follow, starting with a puppy application submission, and then a phone conversation to discuss the application and get to know you better.
I place my V’s with the owner I believe them to be most compatible with. The priority is to find the right fit to care for the needs of each puppy. Factors I consider while looking for the right home include lifestyles, reasons for wanting a dog, family size/dynamic, as well as the puppy’s personality. I take great pride in the quality of my breeding and would love to speak with potential owners on my breeding philosophy and these puppies potential in a new home.
